From the Rates tab, select the 'table' option.

Selecting years 1979 to 2017

The 113 Cause of Death list is avaiable.

Selecting years 1968 to 1999 will result in the following limitations:

Hispanic: selection not available
Race: 'White', 'Black', 'Other' only

Selecting years prior to 1968 will result in the following limitations:

Hispanic: selection not available
Race: 'White' or 'Non-White' only
Age Group: 12 Age Groups only

Prior to 1962, only cancer related deaths are reported.

Select Geographic Criteria

National, states, or counties
Alaska data is not available at the county level before 1979.
Selecting counties is a 2 step process:

Select states.
Click 'Next'.
Select counties.

If the selected time periods are on or after 1968, select Age Group County.
Select Age Groups
Select Demographics

The race and hispanic origin limitations will depend on the time period (mentioned above).

Select Cause of Death (COD)

Select from the predefined COD list

113 COD list is provided if the time periods are all on or after 1979 (ICD 9 and 10).
63 COD list is provided for all other dates.

Create Custom COD list by providing individual ICD codes. The ICD revision is required to correspond to the selected time period.

Select Parameters

If states or counties are selected, select geographic aggregation.
Select grouping, the rate multiplier, and the age adjusting option.
Provide a filename for download (optional).

The results are displayed (and paged if necessary)

Click 'Download' to download a csv file of deaths, population and rates.

From the Rates tab, select the 'Plot race and sex' option.
